Festivals come in all different shapes and sizes these days and there's no real shortage of them either.   If you're feeling like an adventurous festival goer you can pack your case and jet across europe to get crunk on an island and listen to some dubstep or head down to spain and get your festival fix at Sonar or Benicassim.

BBC Introducing stage at Nozstock E-mail

A quick update here from our friends at BBC Hereford & Worcester...Look out for some of the area's hottest new bands on the Garden Stage in the BBC-hosted 'Friday Night Session' this weekend!

BBC Introducing Hereford & Worcester's coverage of local summer festivals begins this weekend, with the "Friday Session Introducing" hosting its own stage at Nozstock Festival on Friday 9 July.

Nine of the best under the radar bands from across Herefordshire & Worcestershire have been chosen to play the festival, after sending their music into the station through the BBC Introducing Uploader -
www.bbc.co.uk/introducing.

It's not the first time the radio station has hosted a stage at Nozstock. For the last two years, the BBC Introducing Friday Session has chosen the artists to perform in the Dingle Area - but this year moves to the Garden Stage, the second largest part of the site.

Andrew says: "Nozstock is great little festival, attracting around 5000 people every year. It started as a family barbeque 13 years ago - and has now grown into a huge licensed event attracting big names like Phill Jupitus and The Blockheads, Sub Focus and High Contrast. We really think the artists we've chosen this year are ones to watch out for in the future - and will give the headliners a run for their money!"

The artists chosen for the festival are Hereford rock band Tramps Like Us; Worcester pop group Skewwhiff; Worcestershire rockers November & The Criminal; Pershore hip hop reggae collective The SpoonFedz; Herefordshire & Worcestershire bluegrass outfit Kentucky Fryd; Ledbury fiddle-punksters The Bleeding Hearts; Bewdley dance producer Monster! Monster!; Hereford driving rock group Aulos, and Tillington electronica duo Muchuu.

Every Friday from 7pm, Andrew Marston plays a selection of the very best new music from emerging from the Midlands, with live studio sessions and festival opportunities abound. Listen to the show via the BBC Hereford & Worcester web page here.

Stanton Warriors and Jack Beats join bulging Nozstock line-up E-mail
International breaks superstars the Stanton Warriors, and fidget house pioneers Jack Beats are set to crank up the tempo at this year’s Nozstock with some literally barnstorming sets.

Stanton Warriors (aka Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley) are a duo that really needs no introduction. Poised to release their eagerly anticipated new album in summer 2010, and having scooped the DJ Magazine Top 100 Award for best breaks DJs for the past two years, we are delighted to have them as Garden Stage headliners for the Festivals apex on Saturday night.

Not one to rest on our laurels, we’ve also added the hottest duo on the dance music scene to our ranks – Jack Beats. If you haven’t heard the buzz about this alliance of seasoned turntablists then prepare your ears for the best of the new wave of British house music. Combining Beni G of the Mixologists and Plus One of Scratch Perverts, Jack Beats are bringing big breakdowns, edgy accapella’s, and plenty of wobble to dancefloors the length and breadth of the country right now.

Their signature track ‘Get Down’ can’t be missed, check it out below.

Gabby Young & Other Animals, Chief, and Apples confirmed for Orchard Stage E-mail

An update with a distinctly indie feel here, as we’re pleased to announce that rising stars of the scene: Gabby Young & Other Animals, Chief, and Apples are all confirmed for this year’s festival.

Gabby Young and her Other Animals look set to light up the Orchard Stage with their flamboyant, jazz-edged tales from last year’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘We’re All In This Together’. One reviewer in the past has described her as “Howling mad and completely irresistible”…we think she’s going to like it here. Check out the typically intriguing video for the album's title-track below.

Next up, hotly tipped Californian quartet Chief travel all the way from the US west coast to join us this year for an anticipated first UK festival appearance. Making waves on the other side of the Atlantic with their brand of ethereal and melodic indie-rock (à la US bedfellows Local Natives) catch these boys in the intimate surrounds of the Nozstock farm before they’re lost to the big arena’s as predicted.

Finally - looking a little closer to home - local band Apples will make the short journey to centre stage at Nozstock ‘10. Off the back of an appearance at Barcelona’s Faraday Festival, expect a triumphant mini-homecoming for the fast rising indie-pop five-piece.

A pretty juicy start we think you’ll agree. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements in the coming weeks.
